Tripoli: "Displaced People in Libya ... Challenges and Solutions"
Earlier this month, The Libyan Organization Of Policies and Strategies (LOOPS) held a conference about Libya's displacement crisis under the title “The displaced people in Libya.. Challenges and Solutions”. The conference was held in Corinthia Hotel in Tripoli and was attended by the Chairman as well as the General Manager of LOOPS and several current and former Libyan officials.
The conference addressed the crisis of displacement in Libya, through discussing four scientific research papers with the presence of local officials and representatives of several groups of displaced people in Libya. Participants emphasized the suffering endured by displaced people in light of the continuing political division.
The conference was also marked by the participation of the Displaced People's Affairs office affiliated to the Presidential Council, a representative of the International Organization for Migration (IOM), Libyan Humanitarian Relief Agency, Red Crescent-Tripoli, Ministry of Social Affairs in the National Accord Government, General Authority of Social Solidarity, General Authority of Endowment in the Ministry of The Islamic Affairs in Tripoli, Libya National Economic Development Board, Crisis Committees of Displaced People from Tawergha, Benghazi, Sirte and Bani Walid.
Several civil society organizations concerned and working in the field of displaced people in Libya also took part in the conference, most notably" Meltameen Al-Khir" Association (Gathered for the good) and the organization "Jusour" (Bridges).
It is noteworthy to mention that the conference came as an opening of a series of activities to be organized by LOOPS as part of its annual work plan, which will include scientific and specialized activities on a number of topics to be held in Libya during the current year.
